Welcome to Southern: 40 years of swimming excellence
Thanks for visiting our website.
Southern Swimming Club was created when the new pool in Castletown was opened in 1979.
Over the years the club has nutured and developed young swimmers giving them the skills and techniques to compete at the highest levels. Southern swimmers have competed in many major swimming events: the Island Games, Commonwealth Youth Games and the Commonwealth Games.
Producing competitive swimmers is just one of our goals. Everyone is welcome; we are a community club and our aim is to develop a lifelong love for swimming. We have a coaching staff renowned for getting the most talented swimmers to the highest levels; often, we extract the very best from our swimmers, and they achieve the incredible. But we also train triathletes, open water, divers, leisure, and many more. Swimming is a lifetime sport: developing a passion for swimming is our goal.
Our team of volunteers are dedicated to swimming as both a sport and a recreation. It isn't about how far or fast you can swim, but how swimming makes you feel. Confidence, self-belief and enjoyment are the essence of what we do.
